Common questions
How do I start my first script?
Create a new script, paste your text, and open the teleprompter. Adjust the size and speed, then press Play. If a countdown is enabled, scrolling starts when it finishes.
How do I make the text readable in teleprompter glass?
Open the reader settings and try Mirror (left/right). Depending on how your device is mounted, you may also need Flip (top/bottom). Use the mirror test and check the words in the actual glass before filming.
The text is too fast, small, or wide. What should I change?
Pause the reader and adjust speed, font size, line spacing, or text width in the reader controls and settings. A narrower column can make it easier to keep your eyes near the camera.
How do I pause or go back?
Tap the reading area to pause, or use the playback control. Drag to reposition the script, then use Play to continue. Restart returns you to the beginning.
Where are my scripts stored? Do they sync?
Scripts are stored locally on the device where you created or imported them. There is no automatic cross-device sync. Export a JSON backup and import it on another device to move your library.
How do I back up or restore my scripts?
Use the app’s export option to save a JSON backup of your library somewhere you can find it again, such as Files. Use Import to restore a compatible backup. Keep a backup before reinstalling or removing the app. Never delete the app as a first troubleshooting step.
Why did my screen dim or lock?
Check the keep-screen-awake setting and your device’s Auto-Lock setting. Keep the app in the foreground while reading. Adjust brightness in your device settings or Control Center.
Does the app record me?
No. Use a separate camera or recording app. Free Teleprompter App displays your script and does not need access to the camera, microphone, or location.
How do I delete my scripts?
Delete a script from the library. Removing the app generally removes its local app data; exported files and device backups can remain. Delete those separately if you no longer want them.
Something still isn’t working?
Pause your session and export a backup if possible. Close and reopen the app, then try again. If the issue continues, email nick@raxdigital.com with the steps that led to the problem. Do not reinstall the app before backing up your scripts.
